Eyeliner FAQs

  • Your style options are based on your preferences. Some popular ones include a classic thin line, and winged eyelier. The thickness and shape will be dertermined during your consultation. I will advise what shape and thickness best suit your eyeshape based on my training and experience.

  • Expect your first treatment to take approximately 3 hours. This will allow adequate time for numbing prior to the tattoing procedure. Consent forms and aftercare instructions will be reviewed.

  • There are many contributing factors to this. Most people will need the color touched up once a year. It is merely a re-coloring of any areas which may have lost color intensity. The individual's skin type, how dark the original color is, sun exposure, and many other factors will impact how long your treatment lasts. While the tattoo may fade over time, it is designed to last for a long duration.

  • You may experience some swelling and redness on procedure day. The eyes can be sensitive and if you have allergies, very watery eyes or know you swell easily, it is advised that you take an over-the-counter anti-histamine such as Benadryl prior to your procedure. Ice packs will help alleviate inflammation and can be used frequently for the first 24 hours. You will be advised to wear no makeup directly on the treated area for at least 3 days. Most clients resume their regular schedule the very next day.

  • Although there is no downtime and you will see immediate results, fading may occur and we must wait 4 weeks in order to see the final outcome. Second sessions are required as pigment will fade up to 50% after the first session.

  • You must have the form of glaucoma that does not require medication. If you use prescription medication for any eye condition, you must have a release in writing from your doctor.

  • Although your eyeliner will remain intact, the shape may change due to tightening of the skin. It is advised to get an eyeliner without a wing, or wait until after your surgery.

  • You must remove lenses for the procedure and it is recommended that you wear glasses for 2-3 days after. This is precautionary to prevent irritation and possible eye infections.

  • You must discontinue temporarily while healing from the eyeliner procedure. It is recommended that you refrain from using the product for about 10 days or until you are sure that the procedure area is completely healed. There is no data that shows if these products influence premature fading of permanent eyeliner.

  • The eyeliner procedure is more psychologically scary to most clients than anything else. A very strong compounded numbing cream is used prior to and during the procedure. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure. Many clients fall asleep.

  • Here are three important pre-treatment steps to remember for an eyeliner procedure:

    1) Clean and Hydrated Skin: This helps in achieving even color application.

    2) Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol at least three days before your appointment to minimize any potential bleeding or swelling.

We will discuss aftercare during your appiontment and I will provide you will an ointment that you will take home.
